Cat Context 79: WoW Expansion Pace, SGDQ, Batman Games, Anime?!

This week Liore, Ellyndrial, and Arolaide talk about content droughts in WoW, Summer Games Done Quick, and … anime. Look, we’re as surprised as you are.

Blizzard continues their bad P.R. trend and lets slip that patch 6.2 will be the final raid patch before the next expansion, leading players to believe that they’re in for another 12 – 18 month content drought. Liore is outraged on the players’ behalf, but Aro makes the point that most WoW players seem pretty cool with this end-of-expansion scenario.

Elly chimes in with the totally wrong opinion that The Burning Crusade was the worst expansion, and the conversation goes pretty much in the shouty direction you would expect.

(Editor’s Note: After recording, Blizzard shared that they are announcing the next expansion next week at Gamescom. We’re pretty sure they just did that to invalidate our discussion.)

As Liore hasn’t been on a podcast episode in over six weeks there is a lot of talk about what we’ve been playing lately. Aro diversifies slightly by playing Dragon Age 2 again, and she and Elly talk DA details until Liore slides out of her chair in boredom. Elly has been playing a Batman double-header in Arkham Knight and Lego Batman. Liore has been watching games rather than playing them, in the form of Summer Games Done Quick and the DOTA 2 International.

Also, Liore is watching anime for Blaugust! Elly dabbles in Rocket League! Shockingly, all three of us agree that both Uwe Boll and peas in guacamole are terrible!

definitely have to watch cowboy bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist – two absolutely amazing series. Easy to get into but emotional, strong character development and great stories

I’m pretty sure the former is on the list I’m using. I don’t think FMA is on it, but I’ll remember it for after!

I’m even more determined to do it now that Aro and Elly have given me a hard time about it. ;)
